Sindh is known around the world for its ancient civilization, rich culture, Sufi traditions and historic trading cities. But the story of Sindh is not limited to history. People with Sindhi roots have also built successful businesses across banking, textiles, trading, technology and international commerce.

In this article, we explore the journeys of five successful Sindhi business figures and business families whose stories show how ambition, business vision and hard work can create major business empires.

This is not an official ranking of the richest Sindhi people. Public information about personal wealth is not always available or reliable. Therefore, company revenue, reported net worth and family wealth are clearly identified instead of being presented as personal income.

1. Jahangir Siddiqui

Jahangir Siddiqui is one of the most prominent business figures associated with Sindh and Pakistan’s financial sector.

He was born in Hyderabad, Sindh, in 1948. His forefathers belonged to Sehwan Sharif, and his family later moved to Hyderabad. At a young age, he showed an interest in business and began working as a distributor of Coca-Cola and ice cream in Hyderabad.

His entrepreneurial journey eventually led to the creation of Jahangir Siddiqui & Co. in 1971. His business activities later expanded into financial services, investment management, banking and other sectors. The official JS Group profile describes his entrepreneurial initiatives as beginning with the foundation of the JS Group in 1970 and highlights his role in developing major financial businesses, including JS Bank.

One important point is that company revenue should not be confused with Jahangir Siddiqui’s personal income. Public company financial figures represent the performance of the business, not the founder’s personal earnings.

His story is particularly interesting because it began in Hyderabad with a young entrepreneur looking for a business opportunity and eventually developed into a major financial group.

2. Sultan Ali Allana

Sultan Ali Allana is another important name in the world of banking and finance.

He was born in Karachi in 1959 into a Sindhi family. He studied at St. Patrick’s High School and D.J. Sindh Government Science College before continuing his education abroad.

His professional career has included work in international banking and entrepreneurship. He later became closely associated with the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development and Habib Bank Limited, where he has served as chairman.

His career demonstrates how professionals from Sindh have built strong positions in international finance and large-scale banking.

Unlike some public business figures, there is no reliable publicly verified figure that should be presented as his exact personal income or current net worth. For that reason, this article focuses on his career and business leadership rather than making an unsupported wealth claim.

3. Sunder Genomal

Sunder Genomal represents another fascinating Sindhi business success story.

He was born and raised in Manila, but comes from a family of Sindhi origin connected with Hyderabad. His family had already developed experience in the textile and innerwear business before Sunder Genomal helped establish Page Industries in India.

In 1994, Sunder Genomal and his brothers founded Page Industries. The company became closely associated with the Jockey brand in India and grew into a major player in the apparel and innerwear industry. Page Industries’ own corporate profile identifies Sunder Genomal as one of the company’s founders and its chairman.

His story is an example of how a business family with Sindhi roots expanded from one part of the world into a major international consumer brand market.

Older Forbes reports have published estimates of Genomal’s wealth in different years, but those figures should not automatically be treated as his current 2026 net worth.

4. Ram Buxani

Ram Buxani’s story is one of the most remarkable examples of a Sindhi entrepreneur building a life and business career in Dubai.

Buxani was born in Hyderabad, Sindh, in 1941. At the age of 18, he travelled to Dubai to look for work. He started his career as an office assistant and eventually rose to become chairman of ITL Cosmos Group.

His business journey closely followed the growth of Dubai itself. ITL Cosmos developed into a diversified business group, while Buxani also became a well-known figure within the Sindhi and Indian business community in the UAE.

In 2019, Gulf News reported an estimated personal net worth of around AED 300 million, or approximately US$81 million at that time. This was a historical estimate, not a current 2026 wealth figure.

Ram Buxani passed away in July 2024 at the age of 83. His story therefore belongs to the history of successful Sindhi entrepreneurs rather than a list of currently active businessmen.

5. The Hinduja Family

The fifth story is different because it is not about one businessman. It is about a business family whose roots go back to Shikarpur in Sindh.

The Hinduja Group’s own history says its founder, Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja, came from Shikarpur in Sindh. In 1914, he moved to Bombay and began building his trading career. In 1919, the business expanded internationally with an office in Iran.

The early business focused on trade and merchant banking and later expanded into multiple industries, including automotive, banking and finance, technology, energy, healthcare, real estate, media and other sectors.

The Hinduja story is important for Sindh because it shows how a business journey that began in Shikarpur eventually developed into a global business group.

Because this is a family enterprise, family wealth should not be described as the personal wealth of one individual.

What These Business Stories Tell Us

These five stories have very different beginnings.

Jahangir Siddiqui built his financial career from Hyderabad.

Sultan Ali Allana developed a career in international banking and finance.

Sunder Genomal took his family’s Sindhi business background into the global apparel industry.

Ram Buxani built his career in Dubai from a very modest beginning.

The Hinduja family transformed a trading business with roots in Shikarpur into a multinational business group.

Their industries are different, their countries of operation are different, and their business journeys took different paths. But one common element remains: Sindhi roots and a strong tradition of entrepreneurship.

A Note About Wealth and Income

When researching successful businessmen, it is important to understand the difference between personal income, net worth, company revenue and family wealth.

A company generating billions of rupees does not mean its founder personally earned that amount.

Similarly, a family’s combined wealth cannot automatically be described as the wealth of one family member.

That is why this article uses publicly reported figures carefully and avoids presenting unverified numbers as facts.

Sindh’s Business Legacy

Sindh has a long history of trade and entrepreneurship. From the historic trading networks of cities such as Shikarpur and Hyderabad to modern banking, finance, textiles and international business, the region has produced generations of entrepreneurs.

The stories of Jahangir Siddiqui, Sultan Ali Allana, Sunder Genomal, Ram Buxani and the Hinduja family offer different examples of how people with Sindhi roots built businesses far beyond their original homeland.
